One of my Yakezie team members is out of credit card debt! There’s still quite a bit to go with her student loans but as for the credit card debt:

A few things that are great about retiring that debt:

Things are simpler. Fewer monthly bills to keep track of.
Things are freer. The money that was going toward those payments can now be shuttled somewhere else.
Things are just plain easier. The psychological weight of those credit card payments is gone.

Just caught this. Blogging Away Debt has paid off her $37,614 worth of credit card debt! Over three years in the making, her balance is now $0.

Debt Reduction Success Story: Debt Hater

A five-digit credit card balance is a lot to carry. Staring at that figure can be a bit overwhelming, and even if you know that the debt has to be paid off, the goal of a zero balance seems so far off that it’s difficult to focus on the steps needed to make that happen.

Seeing someone accomplish this goal can help clarify that it is indeed possible to pay off five figures of credit card debt.

A couple of weeks ago, Debt Hater paid off her $15,670 in debt! It took over two years to do it, but it’s gone. She’s been posting on her blog and tracking her progress over at the No Credit Needed Network along the way. Here are some succinct points she made that seem to summarize important parts of her experience:

I messed up A LOT on the way.
I didn’t always do the brilliant financial thing.
Sometimes I despaired that I’d never get this done.
Sometimes I didn’t care if I did or not.
Sometimes I was so determined, nothing on earth was going to stop me.
Sometimes other things in my life got me so down that financial freedom was the last thing on my mind.

But I did it.
